Cisco Uc560 Software Pack
We are getting rid of our external VoIP Provider and opting for an internal PBX. I was the lucky one who gets to set up the PBX which is a UC560. I was hoping someone might have some experience with this and answer a few unknowns I have with the setup. We aren't doing the Cisco rec. Setup of a dedicated PoE switch. We are hoping to be able to plug directly into our internal LAN.
The UC560 has its own DHCP server and I need to figure out how to disable that so our Sonicwall is the only DHCP server online. Do I need to set up VLAN's in order to make this network config work? Also, we have about 65 DID's that are getting ported over.

So far I have been setting up each phone with 4 digit extension (the last 4 of the DID) How do I set up the PBX to route the DID to the right internal extension?Any help or insight on this is greatly appreciated. Oh and the phones we are using are the Cisco SPA508g and the softphones are the Cisco IP Communicator.Thanks,Adam. Hi Adam,The Cisco UC500 series can be a little fiddly to configure initially, but are great products and work well, so I'm sure you'll be pleased with the end result. Are you using Cisco Configuration Assistant to do the setup, or all by Command Line? I would strongly recommend (if you can) to leave the phones on a separate VLAN to the data traffic, and have the UC560 as the DHCP server for the voice vlan.
It'll help with QoS, voice quality and consistency, and make it much easier to diagnose problems later on.If you are using CCA, you can remove the data DHCP pool from Configure-Routing-DHCP Server, leaving just the voice one there.Configuring the DID is just as easy, just go to Configure-Telephony-Dial Plan-Incoming and Direct Dialing tab. You can then enter the DID range start and end (the same for a single DID) and the extension to go to etc. You probably want to leave dhcp on the voice vlan and disable it on the data vlan. The uc560 has two vlans - voice vlan 100 and data vlan 1.FirstYou need to download configuration assistant from ciscoSecondPlug connect your laptop to the port marked pc/ecp ( its yellow )UC560 IP address 192.168.10.1You can login to the(basic ) gui from there.Assign the uc560 an ip address on your lan.Once you get the configuration assistant installed you will need to use it to configure the device. The uc560 is a router so you can route traffic.
Add a route in your sonic wall to route the vlan 100 subnet to the lan ip address of the uc560. You will need to do this so that the configuration assistant can configure the call manager and voice mail. Also note that the uc560 is part of the cisco small business system - you can call cisco small business any time and let them do the work.
I have a client that wants the same thing from a soft key but I'm afraid when using the template editor that paging is not an option for the soft keys. So if you want it, you'll probably want to manually assign it to a line key on each phone.A side questions though. Is there any rhyme or reason as to what order the park extensions are used. It seems like most of the time the phones will park at 701 (park lines are 701-707) but once in a while some other phones will park it randomly at 704 when 701, 702, & 703 were available. This is a pain if you want to set up park monitoring for lines 701-703. Anyone run into this?
