Windows Xp Pro Iso Image
Having moved to Windows 10 from XP Pro, I am having a terrible time with it. I need to have a way of retaining the use of XP Pro. Having used Virtual PC 2007 before, I have a copy of a.VHD file.I am asking a question about that in a separate post.Having failed to open a VHD file I have, I followed up on creating a new 'machine' - all looked good, especially the option to install an OS at the time. So I pointed it to an XP Pro ISO image that I had slip-streamed to SP3, and installed previously verysuccessfully - more than once. While the machine was created in the partition I made for it, the initial response on starting it indicates that there is no OS installed on it.
I gather that much from the DOS advice asking for the correct Boot device to be supplied. So I assume it didnot install XP. It took hardly anytime at all, so I did not think it would have in the short time it took to create the machine. Is there a simple solution to my problem? Should I in fact be able to create the machine and have the OS installed automatically?
What else would I need to do to get it to install XP on the fly so to speak? If all else fails, I will create a machine and tell it I will install the OS later; hoping that will be more straight forward.Useful input on this would be greatly appreciated. We are always trying to learn down under. Unless you've got some kind of OS deployment service or are using templates, the OS install is manual. It's asking you what you're installing as a guide to give recommended settings and the media location to save you time from going back into the settings and adding the media source. There should be nothing inherently different of doing an install on a VM vs.
A hardware device. Are you opening a Hyper-V console window and following the installation? Are you sure that the ISO is mounted? What is the actual error you're seeing? Hi thereYou are too kind to keep up the dialogue; but I appreciate it.When I start the new machine, it says 'Boot failure. Reboot and Select proper Boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device.'
